Special session at Interspeech: Spoofing and Countermeasures for Automatic Speaker Verification
from Aug 25, 2013 12:00 AM to Aug 29, 2013 12:00 AM — Lyon - France
It is widely acknowledged that most biometric systems are vulnerable to imposture or spoofing attacks. While vulnerabilities and countermeasures for other biometric modalities have been widely studied, automatic speaker verification systems remain vulnerable. This special session aims to promote the study of spoofing and countermeasures for the speech modality. We invite submissions with an emphasis on new countermeasures in addition to papers with a focus on previously unconsidered vulnerabilities, new databases, evaluation protocols and metrics for the assessment of automatic speaker verification in the face of spoofed samples. In particular, we aim to stimulate new interest from colleagues working in related fields, e.g. voice conversion and speech synthesis, whose participation is sought for the design of future evaluations.
Organisers:
Nicholas Evans, Tomi Kinnunen, Junichi Yamagishi and Sébastien Marcel

TABULA RASA Spoofing Challenge
from Jun 04, 2013 12:00 AM to Jun 07, 2013 12:00 AM — Madrid Spain
The TABULA RASA project is organizing a Spoofing Challenge and is inviting researchers to develop ingenious attack plans and to deceive various biometric authentications systems of different modalities that will be demonstrated at the 6th International Conference of Biometrics (ICB 2013 http://atvs.ii.uam.es/icb2013/ ).
The most brilliant attempt, which will be decided on its spoofing success and originality, will be awarded with the "Best Spoofing Attack Award", accompanied by an incentive prize.

Competition on speaker recognition in mobile environment using the MOBIO database
from Jan 14, 2013 12:00 AM to Apr 08, 2013 12:00 AM - Madrid - Spain
In the context of BEAT project ( http://www.beat-eu.org ), the Biometric group at the Idiap Research Institute ( http://www.idiap.ch/~marcel/professional/Research_Team.html ) is organizing the second competition on text independent speaker recognition during the 6th International Conference of Biometrics (ICB 2013 http://atvs.ii.uam.es/icb2013/ ) to be held in Madrid, Spain on June 4-7, 2013. Researchers in biometrics are highly invited to participate in this competition. This will help them to evaluate the progress made in the last couple of years.
The competition will be carried on the MOBIO database. MOBIO is a challenging bimodal (face/speaker) database recorded from 152 people. The database has a female-male ratio of nearly 1:2 (52 females and 100 males) and was collected from August 2008 until July 2010 in six different sites from five different countries. This led to a diverse bi-modal database with both native and non-native English speakers.

The 2nd competition on counter measures to 2D facial spoofing attacks
from Jan 14, 2013 12:00 AM to Apr 08, 2013 12:00 AM - Madrid - Spain
Following the first competition on counter measures to 2D spoofing attacks consisting of printed photographs,The TABULA RASA project organizes a second competition for comparison of the performance of spoofing counter measures, this time on a more diverse set of spoofing attacks (photos and videos replay on iPhone and iPad).
The competition will be part of the 6th International Conference of Biometrics (ICB 2013 http://atvs.ii.uam.es/icb2013/ ).
SPOOFING AND ANTISPOOFING: THE WIDER HUMAN CONTEXT
from May 10, 2012 09:00 AM to May 11, 2012 06:00 PM — Roma
May 10-11 2012, Roma, Italy --- A workshop organised in the scope of the TABULA RASA PROJECT.
Biometric technologies raise a number of ethical and legal concerns, as has been well-documented by recent European FP7 projects. The TABULA RASA Workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to address the central ethical issues raised by biometrics, spoofing, and anti-spoofing countermeasures. This two-day workshop is organised around three main round tables: "In Biometrics We Trust?""; "From Biometric to Augmented Human Recognition"; "The Ethical and Legal Context".
The workshop promoted animated and vigorous discussion of the central ethical and legal issues concerning anti-spoofing measures in biometrics. Roundtable discussion after each speech and response highlighted conflicts and consensus. These are documented by the Centre for Science, Society and Citizenship, and made available via TABULA RASA’s dissemination activities (e.g. via the project website tabularasa-euproject).
