Fourth Workshop on Discourse in Machine Translation (DiscoMT 2019)
Sunday, 3 November 2019 -- Hong-Kong, China
DiscoMT 2019 is a satellite workshop of EMNLP-IJCNLP 2019
DiscoMT 2019, the fourth workshop on Discourse in MT, follows up from the ACL 2013 DiscoMT, the EMNLP 2015 DiscoMT, and the EMNLP 2017 DiscoMT workshops. As in the first three editions, the 2019 workshop will focus on language processing techniques, whether theoretically-inspired or empirical, which address one or more discourse-level phenomena in combination with MT or from a cross-lingual perspective. Special emphasis will be on how well neural MT systems handle discourse-level phenomena, whether implicitly or by using explicitly designed architecture. We also welcome papers presenting methods and software that enhance the capabilities of MT systems on discourse-level phenomena, as well as studies that assess the quantity and origins of MT difficulties with discourse, including for research and commercial MT systems.
DiscoMT 2019 will not include a shared task, as WMT 2019 enables evaluation on specific datasets, which can include discourse-level annotations. For instance, English-German MT systems have been evaluated on pronouns at WMT 2018 using a specific test suite. Shared tasks on cross-lingual pronoun prediction have been organized at DiscoMT 2015, WMT 2016, and at DiscoMT 2017.
DiscoMT endorses the ACL Anti-harassment Policy.
