Energy Informatics

The group researches into ways of simulating energy transition pathways with intelligent control and adjustment mechanisms of evolving buildings with retrofitting and use, renewable energy production and energy storage in a changing climate.

Switzerland pursues an ambitious energy transition strategy which will be implemented until 2050. It is based on three pillars: more energy-efficient buildings, machinery and transport, increased use of renewables, especially hydropower, and the phase-out of nuclear power. These pillars are in line with this group research orientations, which can provide a valuable contribution thanks to the use of informatics technologies, such as simulation, machine learning, data analysis and visualization.
