Nespresso, Swatch Group, Schindler and… Idiap Research Institute. All were invited for the Swiss Innovation Night organized by the Swiss ambassador in Madrid. This year theme was focused on the impact of artificial intelligence on society. Daniel Gatica-Perez from our institute was among Jesus Marco from the Spanish Council of Scientific Research (CSIC), and Jose Carlos Agrela from the ISDI Institute to share his views on the future of AI with an audience from the academic, business, government, social, and cultural sectors.
Head of the social computing group at Idiap and Spanish speaking, Daniel Gatica-Perez was an ideal envoy for this event. He presented his work related to the use of artificial intelligence in urban contexts. His research allows to map and identify various urban indicators that can help policymakers make informed decisions. Such topics perfectly illustrate Idiap’s motto: artificial intelligence for society which is in line with the event’s theme.
The Swiss Innovation Night aims to present Switzerland as a model of innovation, and the themes are chosen based on cooperation in mutual interests with Spain, spanning artificial intelligence, quantum computing, robotics, astrophysics, and energy.
