Artificial Intelligence for Society

The Idiap Research Institute is an independent, nonprofit research foundation affiliated with the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). Its activities encompass basic research, training (graduate and post-graduate level), and technology transfer activities in the area of Artificial Intelligence for Society including, among others, multimedia information management, human-computer interaction, perceptual and cognitive systems, natural language processing and understanding, social media, biometric person recognition, multimodal information interfaces, applied artificial intelligence (AI) and large-scale machine learning.

Idiap researchers are Lemanic Life Science Hackathon winners

Tilak Purohit and Barbara Ruvolo, contributing to Idiap’s “AI for Life” research program, participated and won 1st prize at the Lemanic Life Science Hackathon organized at EPFL at the end of April 2024. Their winning project resulted in an AI-enabled user interface prototype to support the detection of depression via speech.

Artificial intelligence is going back to school: Monday, February 4, 13 students upon selection are beginning their new master integrated within a company. In this new role of employee-student, they will allow their employer to acquire skills at the forefront thanks to Idiap.
