Sébastien Marcel receives IEEE fellowship elevation
Sébastien has been working at Idiap for over 20 years and contributing to the field of biometrics security and privacy through diverse national and international projects and publications. His expertise domains include face recognition, speaker recognition, vein recognition, attack detection (presentation attacks, morphing attacks, deep fakes) and template protection. He is also the director of the Swiss Center for Biometrics Research and Testing at Idiap.
In parallel to its activities at Idiap, he is Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Law, Criminal Justice and Public Administration at the University of Lausanne (Unil) where he teaches biometrics to master’s students.
Sébastien’s nomination as an IEEE Fellow for his contributions to biometric presentation attack detection underscores the importance of his work in protecting individuals and organizations from data breaches, and other harms caused by fraudulent use of biometric credentials.
