The Grant Office supports Idiap researchers throughout the entire lifecycle of their research projects, from identifying funding opportunities and developing proposals to managing awarded projects, thus enabling scientific teams to focus on achieving excellence in their research.

Monitoring and identifying funding opportunities
We identify and monitor national and international funding calls and guide researchers towards the most relevant opportunities based on their research topics, career stage, and collaboration ambitions.
Typical competitive funding schemes managed by the Grant Office include the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), Horizon Europe, the European Research Council (ERC), the State of Valais, as well as private foundations (Hasler Foundation, Loterie Romande, etc.).

Project preparation
Project preparation
We guide research teams in understanding the requirements of each funding call, structuring projects and budgets, ensuring administrative compliance of proposals, and coordinating with internal and external, national and international partners.
We are also available to external researchers wishing to submit funding applications with Idiap as the host institution, for example within the framework of an ERC Starting Grant, Consolidator Grant or Advanced Grant, or an SNSF Ambizione grant.

Once funding has been secured, we collaborate with various institute teams on budget monitoring, preparation of scientific and financial reports, audits, contract management, and the administration of European projects coordinated by Idiap.
Training and events
Training and events
We regularly organize information sessions for researchers to keep them informed about new funding opportunities or updates concerning recurring funding calls, while also fostering collaboration opportunities.
We also contribute to organizing institute events aimed at strengthening science communication, research impact and knowledge transfer, and Idiap’s strategic vision, such as the Idiap Create Challenge (ICC) and the Idiap Advisory Board meeting.
